Fixed Assets

The asset register, depreciation, disposals and the asset schedule.

What matters in Fixed Assets.

Built for accountant and owner.

  • A register with book and tax basis

Each asset has a code, category, location, in-use date, cost, accumulated depreciation, carrying amount, book basis and tax pool.

One register serves the books and the tax computation.

  • Post depreciation each period

Depreciation is posted from the register, with a count of what is not yet posted.

Profit is not overstated and the register does not drift from the books.

  • A needs-attention list with reasons

Unposted depreciation, fully depreciated assets still held, assets with no location, and disposals this year, each with why it matters.

An asset with no location cannot be found at a physical count.

  • Disposals post gain or loss

Disposing of an asset records the gain or loss in the books.

No manual calculation at year end.

  • Assets feed the tax computation

The income tax computation adds back book depreciation.

    Tax follows the asset register.
